Advising Outcomes Survey
We want your feedback! Cal Poly is participating in an important institutional assessment with the goal of evaluating and improving academic advising.
In order to gather feedback from staff and faculty advisors, you are invited to complete this 10-15 minute voluntary survey of your perceptions and experiences with academic advising at Cal Poly. The findings will have implications for professional development, goal-setting, and further inquiry into the advisor/student relationship at Cal Poly.
Please consider participating in this survey to understand the ways in which you, in your role as a student or faculty/staff advisor at Cal Poly, interact and perceive academic advising and the effectiveness of those interactions.
You will find your unique link to the survey in your Cal Poly email. The email is sent from University Advising at Cal Poly <email@example.com>.
Please check your Clutter or Junk email as well.
Survey is available Monday, January 22-Friday, February 9, 2024

Q: Who is conducting the study?
A: Cal Poly is conducting an assessment of academic advising overseen by NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising, the “premier global association for the development and dissemination of innovative theory, research, and practice of academic advising in higher education.” The survey is administered by the NACADA Center for Research at Kansas State University in collaboration with the College of Education at Kansas State University. You can learn more about the organization at https://nacada.ksu.edu/
Q: How will my answers be used?
A: The aggregated results will be used to inform the academic advising team at Cal Poly as they explore all aspects of academic advising and will be presented in both numeric and graphical findings and reports. Narrative text (quotes and phrases) will be used to add depth to the analysis of the results, but no identifying information will ever be used.
Q: Who will see my responses?
A: Privacy is of the utmost concern and all respondents’ data will be anonymously collected. Any identifiers in the qualitative responses will be “cleaned” as the first step in analysis. Only certified researchers at Cal Poly and NACADA will have access to survey responses, and only for the purpose of protecting those that may be specifically mentioned in a response.
Q: Who can I contact with questions or concerns?
