Scholarship Application for NACADA Annual Conference
October 1-4, 2008 in Chicago
The Advising Council awards scholarships for the Annual NACADA (National Academic Advising Association) Conference to Cal Poly staff whose major job activities involve interaction with and advising of undergraduate students. Those who fit this parameter are encouraged to apply for this professional development opportunity! For more about the conference, visit the NACADA website.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Note: All applicants must have pre-approval for leave from their supervisor prior to application.
In NO MORE THAN a one-page, single-spaced typed application, (Word document) please provide the following information:
- Your name
- Advising capacity/Advising Center/Department
- Campus Phone
- EMPLID
- What amount are you requesting? Please state the minimum needed as well as your desired amount.
- What other funding have you secured? From where, and how much? (It is desirable that individuals will obtain some financial support from their originating office.)
- Will you attend NACADA whether you receive funding from the Council or not?
- What arrangements to attend have your already made, and if you have paid for them, what were the amounts?
- What is your attendance history, and/or involvement with NACADA?
- Please provide a brief need or motivation statement.
- What are your advising interactions with students? What percentage of your time is spent in this capacity?
- Each scholarship recipient will be required to provide an in-service for advising constituents within one month of return from the conference. Please provide a brief description of what seminars you would hope to attend and what needs these could address on our campus.
