Summary
Notes April 6, 2006 |

 |
- Banners: Katie reported that the make-it-yourself computerized banners were too small and would only be good for one use.
- Sandwich boards
- They are two-sided, lightweight, and the signs can be changed.
- They could be chained up so they don’t have to be put up and taken down.
- One board with two signs costs $234. Additional signs are $72/ea. if you buy at least four.
- AAC could check with UGS to see if it’s possible to make additional signs on campus.
- Possibilities for the content of the sign include the location of each Advising Center and the Advising Tip of the Month.
- All the signs could be made to look the same so students would see them all around campus and start thinking more about advising.
- Mary could talk to the Dean’s Council about each college contributing some money toward the cost of the sandwich boards.
- Mary will check to see if AAC needs permission to put the sandwich boards up.
- Response to the idea was limited, and AAC did not decide whether or not to purchase the sandwich boards.
- Other advertising ideas
- Ask the Advisor column in The Mustang Daily answering common questions. No decision was reached on how often it should be run, but AAC liked the idea.
- An advising tip of the month could be posted on the Advising web site, on individual Advising Center websites and at CTL.
- Katie ordered 5000 Post-Its for WOW packets.
- Mary reported that we still have a number of Advising folders, but there was not great interest in them.
- Advising Fair
- AAC agreed not to do another newsletter.
- AAC agreed to do the Lucy booths and the fair and not run any other programs.
- AAC discussed the best time to have the fair. Winter quarter worked better in people’s schedules, but some were concerned that the lack of SAP would make it important to have the fair in the fall.
- Someone will need to chair the fair. No one volunteered.
- The possibility of working with the residence halls was raised.
- Bonnie raised continuing concerns about the high number of errors on both manual and PolyProgress evaluations. Stacey sent some evaluations back to Tom. AAC is concerned about the lack of quality control. Also, the Evaluations window’s hours keep changing. Cindy will ask Tom to send out the window hours. Cindy will ask Kimi and Tom to address these concerns at the next meeting. AAC discussed whether to ask Jean DeCosta to mediate and decided not to.
