TIMELINE FOR FACULTY-FOCUSED ACTIVITIES

• Continue with at least one training in the CTL each quarter
- Fall: Advising for Advisors- Help for Fledgling Advisors
- Also the two other faculty offerings during Advisor Awareness Week (1) Polyprogress, (2) Developing a Strong Academic Action Plan
- Winter: Advising 101- The Nuts and Bolts of Advising
- Spring: Advising 102- One-on-One with a Student: What Do I Do Now?

• Create Certificate of Completion to present to faculty who have attended 3 of the programs.
- Lorraine Donegan will design it for us. (Completed before Winter CTL program)
- Talk with Joe Grimes about getting the certificate program announced on the CTL website and in the email he sends out to faculty. (Fall)
- Talk with Provost about possibility of including advising training as part of RPT, perhaps under Service. (Winter)

• Provide an Advising Binder to give to faculty who attend the workshops
- Lorraine Donegan is willing to share her ideas from the binder she creates for her faculty advisors. (Create during Fall)
- Will give faculty a way to keep information handy.

• Instead of doing faculty focus groups, utilize faculty who attend the workshops to get feedback on the kind of information they need and how they wish to receive it.
- Leave time at end of workshop to poll attendees
- What was “muddiest point” made in the presentation?
- What “burning questions” do you have that we haven’t answered?
- Also might want to develop a short survey(before Fall CTL program)

• Develop “Advising Tip of the Month” to display on CTL website
- Talk with Joe Grimes about the feasibility (Fall)
- Develop tips (Fall and Winter)
- Link the answer to the advising@calpoly.edu website so faculty are automatically directed to it. (by mid Winter)

• For Fall Conference 2006, get on the schedule a one hour meeting for new faculty with their respective advising office staff.
- Contact office that controls Fall Conference schedule (Joe Grimes?) to discuss. (Fall continuing into winter)
